In 2023, the Italian brand Ferrari will return to sports prototype racing – in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the factory team from Maranello will be presented with a new prototype of the Le Mans Hypercar class.
The car, which is currently undergoing intensive testing, will be officially presented to the public at the end of October. The presentation of the latest hypercar will be the main event of the Ferrari Finali Mondiali corporate holiday in Italy.
There is still no official information about the new product, however, it is known that the new – as yet unnamed – prototype will receive a hybrid power plant, as required by the technical regulations. The combined peak power of the gasoline engine and electric superstructure cannot exceed 680 horsepower.
This, as well as a number of other parameters, is spelled out in the rules. Otherwise, the Ferrari engineers have a free hand, so it will be very interesting to know which interpretation of the regulations they choose.
The hypercar, which will mark Ferrari’s return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans exactly half a century after the Ferrari 312 PB prototype, will see the public debut of another racing model. The Ferrari Finali Mondiali 2022 will host the Imola circuit, which will also feature the latest Ferrari 296 GT3 coupe, which will also make its racing debut in 2023. The premiere of both models is scheduled for October 30.
