At the beginning of May 2022, BMW is planning to present the new generation of “junior” crossover X1. The Bavarians have accompanied the premiere with a single teaser showing a schematic representation of the novelty.
It is rather difficult to say what will be the serial version of the BMW X1 according to this picture. According to some information, the next “X1” will be a little bit bigger than its predecessor, but it will keep recognizable corporate style.
In a generational change, the crossover will move to a new modular UKL2 platform. This architecture allows front- and all-wheel-drive vehicles to be built with conventional internal combustion engines and electric powertrains.
The crossover will be powered by four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Expect the sporty M variant to produce 306 bhp. The new BMW X1 will also have a plug-in hybrid and all-electric variant.
More technical information will be available during the official premiere. A sales launch date and provisional prices will likely be announced at the same time.
